| John,
I simply don't answer firearms related questions
because of the liability involved- not because I don't know the
answer. Here is your question and my answer follows:
Q. It appears to be up to the agent
himself whether or not he carries. Is that true?
A. It is up to the agent if he decides to be armed or
not as long as it is within the scope of the law in which he or she is
working (i.e. it's a personal decision).
Q. Are you aware of any laws
restricting wear and apparel "police like" looking clothing?
A. In Alaska, No, as long as it does not give a
reasonable person the impression that you are affiliated with a State or
Federal branch of law enforcement.
Q. Are there official badges or proof
of seriousness when you go to get a criminal?
A. Many people carry a badge or wear clothing that
has a badge on it- www.BailSupply.com
is wear I recommend people buy their gear. Often times being in possession
of a copy of the warrant and Authorization to Arrest Defendant forms are
used to convey seriousness and authority.
Q. If so does that come with the
license?
A. There is no license required to work as an agent
making an apprehension on behalf of the surety- there is no license
available. You do not need to obtain a bail bondsman's license- this only
entitles you to enter into commercial bail bond contracts with the
criminal justice system to secure the pretrial release of a defendant.
Q. Or basically am I a citizen
working with a firm allowed to make arrests?
A. You are an ordinary citizen, absent any powers
reserved for law enforcement officers, who is entitled to apprehend bail
secured defendants on behalf of the surety upon the bail because he has
authorized you to be an agent working on his or her behalf.

Questions
-
- Sorry to keep bothering you but I do have a few
more questions if
- you don't mind.
-
- Since you don't live here I can see why you can't
comment on firearm
- laws but as I see what you've sent me it appears
to be up to the agent
- himself whether or not he carries. Is that true?
In Alaska the current laws
- are any resident over 21 and not a convicted felon
can carry concealed or
- exposed any place except: school grounds,
courtrooms "not courthouses",
- federal property i.e. Army post, and entering
private property armed without
- consent of an adult residing there.
-
- The next one you may not be able to answer again
cause you don't
- reside here but are you aware of any laws
restricting wear and apparel
- "police like" looking clothing, and are
there official badges or proof of
- seriousness when you go to get a criminal? If so
does that come with the
- license?
-
- Obviously a bail bondsman himself is required to
have a license and
- I understand you say that there are no licensing
requirements but does that
- include a license as a bondsman as well? I guess
that goes along with proof
- or I.D. Or basically am I a citizen working with a
firm allowed to make
- arrests?
-
- I will not be able to do your course for the first
two days since it is a
- occupational computer I use and I have the next
two days off. I will pick it
- back up on Saturday though.
